The Gap crew arrived on the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humantiy job site at 7:30 am with a big job ahead; install doors, windows, and roofs on three adjacent homes to protect them from the inclement New Orleans weather. Despite a steady sprinkling of rain, the group dove right into the tasks at hand. This is no surprise! The Gap Community Corps is comprised of Gap employees who have shown a significant commitment to volunteering in their communities. Gap Inc. sponsors domestic and international service trips for these amazing or “oober” volunteers to places in need of their support.
In the past year and a half, Gap Inc. has donated $150,000 to New Orleans Area Habitat for Humantiy and has led and sponsored two Community Corps Groups. We are so grateful for Gap’s commitment to the New Orleans community and hope to be working alongside Community Corps Groups in the years to come. Not only are these Corps volunteers incredibly committed to better the world around them, they are also loads of fun! Here are some shots from day 2 on the construction site.
