After many weeks of hard work fundraising and event planning, Lorraine Johnston arrived in New Orleans to present a donation and the finished, hand painted violin to New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity respresentative, Gina Stilp, at the Musicians' Village. Lorraine has been soliciting donations, hosting benefit concerts, and communicating her mission to support the rebuilding of New Orleans with financial contributions to friends, family and colleagues.
She has done an incredible job disseminating this information with the help of her employer, Halcrow. Thousands of fellow employees have been urged to support Lorraine's fundraising efforts and she will continue her efforts through April 2009. It was a great honor to meet this lovely women with such an admirable passion for helping others. New Orleans recovery is far from complete, and support from friends all across the globe is vital for this cuturally rich city's reconstruction.
If you are interested in supporting Lorraine's Project, please make a donation and select "Lorraine's Project" from the Donation Purpose list. She has already presented NOAHH with a check for $1,800 but hopes that with continued support much more will be raised.
Special thanks to Halcrow for their support.
