Hundreds of AOL employees took time out of their conference to join NOAHH on site last week to help build homes in the Upper Ninth and Hollygrove neighborhoods. AOL employees also worked with Bayou Rebirth (planting trees on the Bonnet Carre Spillway) and New Orleans public schools (making bookshelves filled with books), giving a total of 3000 volunteer hours from 500 volunteers to the city of New Orleans as part of their mission to “be in the business of helping people.”
With NOAHH, volunteers worked on homes on Green St. and Montegut St., with their helping with the start of the Montegut St. homes. Volunteers worked with NOAHH staff and partner families to give back to the local communities, putting in hours of hard work on these new homes for hard working families. They built and raised walls and laid the ground work for foundations, making a good start on several new homes. Their inspiring example shows the continued support that citizens and corporations are giving to New Orleans.
